As the Sonic Sun Sets...
Thanks to ISM for turning me onto the joys of Sonic Sunset. It's a radio show broadcasting from a Chicago station every Friday night and thanks to the wonders of the interweb, the resident DJs, Matt McQueen and Dave Siska can archive their shows, which are available for download. What I love about the sets I've heard so far is the diversity, the unwillingness to get boxed into a small corner or to feel under pressure to only play new records - people who succumb to this carry on are guilty of pandering to oneupmanship of the worst kind. Anyway, these guys are the real deal - the only question is: why aren't they more famous?
matt and dave are the shit, no doubt. i really love that each has their own musical personality, even though their selections may cross over at times. i haven't DLed the newest Siska mix yet, i need to go do that!

right on. I've been a major fan for the last few years and lucky enough to drop a mix last summer. their contributions are always on point, presenting a wide breadth of musical knowledge that has turned me onto plenty of great music, electronic and beyond. dave's recent mix is wicked, grab it while it's hot.

It's a great show, they even dropped one of John Braine's tracks a couple of years ago. I haven't listened to it for a while, I must start again...
PS: Pipecock is missed on 313!!!

Have I gone through a timewarp? I thought they stopped doing their show about two years ago.
So much good music heard through this show...

Hi, wow, thanks for the kind words. Really appreciate those listeners who can dig our wide-angle view of deep dance music... it's great to hear there's still interest in the show. As for the question about time warp... we stopped doing the regular weekly FM radio broadcast about 1.5 years ago, (I had twin baby boys that basically of consumed my life!) but have been doing periodic mixes on website only. We have an email list you can sign up for and be notified when we post new ones. We're aiming for at least one new mix a month but we're already behind. :) I'm about to drop a new mix myself later this week... we got bogged down with moving the site over to a new blog platform. The good news is it's live now and hopefully much easier to manage- http://sonicsunset.com
threw in some show history/trivia in the "About" page you might find interesting.
Thanks again, we're glad you're listening!
